Feeding Program

  • Haiti has one of the highest levels of food insecurity in the world
  • 4.4 million Haitians – nearly half the population – need immediate food assistance
  • 1.2 million suffer from severe hunger
  • Over 1 million people are in a situation classified as emergency
  • 22 percent of children in the country are chronically malnourished, 10 percent are underweight, and 66 percent of those under 5yrs old suffer from anemia

Our feeding program is critical for the 550 children that attend Gospel of Grace Academy.  In addition to year-round feeding for the 550 students that attend GGA, we offer a weekend feeding program for 150 additional children in the village who do not attend Gospel of Grace Academy . For many it is the only guaranteed meal they will eat each day.

Due to civil unrest and gang violence, we often have to purchase food in-country at an average cost of $1000US each week for the 6-days of feedings or 2900 meals served each week.   In addition to purchasing food in Haiti, each year supporters of GGA gather together at “A Child’s Hope International” to pack boxes of nutritiously balanced food packs which are then shipped to Port-au-Prince Haiti and transported to our school when possible. One pallet of Hope Boxes contains 15,000 meals and the cost per pallet is $3,800 or .25 per meal.  Through the support of a very generous donor, all US transportation and international shipping & custom fees are covered – such a blessing!!

Throughout all of the unrest, God has been faithful, we have not missed a meal!  Our staff has been able to safely travel and purchase rice & beans, vegetables, spices, oil, butter, propane and other supplies in a market close to the village we serve; but food prices in Haiti have tripled over the last year and our feeding program budget is now $4000 per month. Gospel of Grace Academy is committed to ensuring these children continue to have hot, nutritiously balanced meals. Would you consider a monthly donation to help us meet this most basic human need?

Your gift can directly impact our the programs at GGA.
